February Refuge Refresh - Cut to the Point

(You can access the actual email with formatting and images HERE).

Hi Refuge friends,

I hope you’re having a great week! If not, thank God the weekend has almost arrived—and here’s to a better week starting Monday!

Can I be honest? Sometimes writing this welcome paragraph is the hardest part of the email haha! I don’t feel like writing about cliche topics like Valentine’s Day or the weather…so I’m not going to. I’m just going to send my greetings and say that I hope the rest of the email is insightful and refreshing for you. Talk to you soon!

-Tim

SMILE

Sometimes my friends tell me I'm too cheap. But I'm not buying it. 😂

LEARN

In the News: Trump Accounts

Market-based, retirement-focused saving vehicle for children

Maybe you’ve heard about the new “Trump Accounts” that are supposed to rollout in July of this year. It is an investment account for U.S. children under age 18 designed to help families start saving early for long-term goals. The money is invested in index funds such as the S&P 500 and grows tax-deferred. When the child turns 18, the account becomes a traditional IRA. Parents can open one per eligible child and contribute up to $5,000 annually. The government is also giving a $1,000 seed deposit to children born between 1/1/25 & 12/31/28. (trumpaccounts.gov)

Key Definition

Fixed Index Annuity

Maybe it’s time to rethink what you’ve heard about annuities. I agree, some are bad! But a FIA can be a great option for many situations. It’s a retirement product that offers protection from market losses while allowing your money to grow based on the performance of a market index. Fees are often low (or can even be zero), if it’s used correctly. For those who want growth potential with principal protection and optional lifetime income, it can be a powerful tool to add stability and predictability to a retirement plan.
