November Refuge Refresh - Happy Thanksgiving!
(You can access the actual email with formatting and images HERE).
Hi Refuge friends,
Happy Thanksgiving! I hope you have an awesome day, remembering to give thanks for the many blessings you have—even the small things that we often take for granted.
As a Christian, I know the Bible talks a lot about the importance of thankfulness. But did you know that secular research also shows that people who regularly practice gratitude—even something as simple as a short weekly journal or a thank-you note—often report better mental health, fewer feelings of anxiety or depression, and a stronger overall sense of well-being? A 2022 meta-analysis across 64 studies found clear links between gratitude habits and improved mood, outlook, and emotional resilience (Source).
With Thanksgiving here, it’s a good reminder that giving thanks should be more than a once-a-year thing. A few minutes a week—in prayer, on your own over coffee, or with a note to someone—can pay more dividends than you might expect. I’m very thankful for you and the privilege I’ve had to help you. Have a great day!

Did You Know?
End of AEP!
The end of the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period is almost here! The last day to make changes for your 2026 Part C (Medicare Advantage) or Part D (Rx coverage) is the end of next week—December 7th. If you haven’t reviewed your 2026 coverage or talked to someone about the upcoming changes, time is running out!
Myth vs. Fact
Myth
“I can catch up on retirement savings later in life.”
Fact
Starting early is key to maximizing uninterrupted compound interest growth, so delaying savings can result in missed opportunities for growth. If “early” is already in your rearview mirror, start now! With earnest effort and sacrifice, you can still take advantage of compound interest and get into a good retirement situation. Start today, your future self will thank you!
Survey Says!
Financial Success
Many Americans think “financial success” means earning well above average. In a 2024 survey, the typical answer was about $270,000 a year — but younger folks (Gen Z) set the bar much higher, often naming close to $588,000 as their goal. It’s interesting to see how different generations define financial success. (Source with image: Axios)
