July Refuge Refresh - Cherishing Freedom
(You can access the actual email with formatting and images HERE).
Hi Refuge friends,
As the fireworks fade and we settle into the middle stretch of summer, July invites us to slow down, take a deep breath, and reflect on what we’ve been given. Independence Day reminds us of the great freedom we enjoy—something we shouldn’t take lightly, especially in uncertain times. No matter how you feel about the current state of things in our country, we are truly blessed with greater freedom than probably anywhere in the world. And with that freedom comes a quiet responsibility—to live intentionally, care for those around us, and make choices that reflect our values. Whether you're traveling, hosting family, or just trying to keep up with the summer pace, I hope you're finding moments that matter. In this month’s Refuge Refresh, you’ll find a few thoughtful ways to stay informed and take small, meaningful steps with the freedom and resources you’ve been entrusted with.
If you have questions, need help with anything, or just want to talk through something on your mind, I’m always here—just reach out anytime. Enjoy the rest of your summer!
—Tim
SMILE
A man finds a genie on the beach. For his very first wish, he wishes to be rich. Nodding, the genie assures him it’s done. The man excitedly logs into his online bank account expecting to find a million dollars or even a billion dollars – only to find no change to his balance. Impatiently, the genie says, “Get on with it, Rich. I haven’t got all day.” 😂

The “One Big Beautiful Bill”
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” has been signed into law and everyone is talking about it. In our highly politicized culture, opinions are everywhere as many hate the bill while others praise it. Regardless of where you stand, it’s likely the bill will impact you financially in some way or another. I always try to remain as balanced as I can with news sources, so here are some articles and key takeaways to see the impact it could have on you:
White House summary w/ interactive map
Many Americans will see tax savings with tax breaks for families, small businesses, overtime, tips, car buyers of American vehicles and homeowners in high-cost states.
Critics argue the tax breaks will be offset by increases to the national debt, more stringent criteria for low-income Americans to qualify for government assistance and the removal of clean energy tax breaks.
Seniors will likely see tax relief as an estimated 88% could owe nothing in federal taxes (Investopedia: 7 Things Retirees Need To Know About the Big Beautiful Bill Act)
Many families will see additional tax benefits (Kiplinger: Parents Prepare: Trump's Megabill Brings Three Crucial Tax Changes)
Think about it…
Imagine giving your child or grandchild a gift that quietly grows with them—a life insurance policy that not only protects their future but also builds lasting financial strength along the way. Juvenile life insurance does just that. It provides lifelong coverage while they’re still young and healthy, locks in a low premium that never goes up, and builds guaranteed cash value they can use down the road. It’s a meaningful way to show love and thoughtful planning—a low-risk tool that can quietly grow into something incredibly valuable for their future.

Tax Credit for Colorado Seniors
Many Colorado seniors qualify for valuable tax credits and rebates—and don’t even realize it. These programs are designed to ease financial burdens for older adults, especially those on fixed incomes. This year, Refuge is proudly serving as a local resource center in partnership with the Colorado Gerontological Society (CGS) to help seniors understand and apply for these benefits. If you or someone you know could use a hand navigating the process, I’m here to help. (CGS information link)
